Dual Team Policies & Expectations (Youth)
Dual Team Selection
- To be selected for a dual team, the coaches need to know that you are interested and committed. Please speak with a coach if your wrestler has an interest.
- Wrestlers are selected based on factors such as skill development, practice attendance, attitude and effort, and weight class needs of the team.
- Our policy is to avoid formal wrestle-offs whenever possible. We feel that formal wrestle-offs are detrimental to the development of our wrestlers.
- When multiple wrestlers at the same weight class compete for a single roster spot, the coaching staff will evaluate them during practice pairings to assist in their selection. Roster placement is ultimately at the coaches' discretion.
- Rosters can and will change from dual to dual.
- Coaches' decisions are final.
Dual Team Expectations
- Being selected for a dual team is a privilege, similar to being selected for a travel team in baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. Communicate any conflicts with the coaches as far in advance as possible, as the success of the team depends on everyone.
- Arrive on time and stay for the duration of the tournament.
- Support all Maple Grove wrestlers positively.
- Treat the club-owned uniform with respect and return it promptly.
- Alternates play an important role and may be put into the starting lineup due to injury, fatigue, or to create more favorable matchups.
- Alternates must also adhere to these expectations. Coaches will do their best to ensure that alternates get matches. If your wrestler is selected as an alternate and does not show up, that takes the spot of another wrestler who wants to be there.
