Crimson Wrestlers, Managers, and Families-
Week Nine/Ten Recap:
When you see wrestlers work as hard as ours have this season, you want to see them be
consistently successful and reach all their goals. It would be nice if wrestling were a linear
experience – with each day and each week a little better than the day or week prior. However,
that’s not our sport. There will always be adversity – and honestly the sport is better that way.
The ups and downs all wrestlers experience prepare us for the ups and downs that all humans
experience. The downs are not ideal in wrestling, or in life, but if we learn from our setbacks
and they will propel us forward as a better version of ourself. They adversity makes us stronger.
In the end the struggle is a critical part of the journey and the journey is the reward.
The last couple weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster. There have been a number of injury
(on and off the mat) and sickness related setbacks. There have also been battles where the results
weren’t in our favor. Conversely, there has been significant highlights as well. We went 4-1 in
Team duals, including some hard-fought exciting Team Victories. We qualified two wrestlers
for 9 th grade state (Congratulations to eighth grader Lincoln Rudek and Freshman Ethan Hong)!
Junior Ben Schultz achieved his 150 th career win. Damian Seubert, Ethan Hong, Noah Fox, Alex
True, Thomas Schlangen, and Ben Schultz each brought home top 6 finishes at Varsity
individual tournaments. Our JV Tournament Champions included Liam Swerdlick, Reese
Redlinger, Logan Buman, Alex Fox, and Grady Mandle. Russo Capel and Kathrine Melton each
medaled at the Park Center girls tournament.
Maybe most importantly we’ve had consistent attendance and impressive effort at every practice
during this time period. The hard work being put in in our wrestling room does position us for
additional successes – but it’s not guaranteed. That’s wrestling… and life.
Overall, I believe our healthy wrestlers are competing as well as they have all season. We’ll
want to correct some situational wrestling and make sure we have a strong plan for each wrestler
to finish the season competing at their highest level. Many Crimson wrestlers are starting to put
it all together, but each wrestler has opportunities to keep getting better as well. Looking
forward to two more exceptional weeks of practice which will complete the JV and girls’
competition seasons!

Mat Boss Video Access:
Many wrestlers are now watching their matches on Mat Boss each week – which is awesome!
This is a great opportunity for kids to learn from their matches and improve at a much faster rate
than would otherwise be possible. Watching back matches can be a great learning tool and is
highly encouraged. Please let me know if you/your wrestler has not been able to get in to Mat
Boss and would like to do so or if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Sports Engine, Facebook Page and Future Communication:
Lastly please download the Sports Engine App and sign up to receive future communications.
Parents and wrestlers can each sign up to receive future communications and schedule changes
through the Sports Engine app by going to Crimson-Wrestling.com. If you have any challenges
with this, please text me your email address at 763-913-0601 and I’ll make sure you are added to
the app portion. Please let me know if you have any questions with this as we will use this app
for communications throughout the season.
Also, we often post fun pictures or related articles on the Maple Grove High School Wrestling
Page on Facebook (along with this article). If you are a Facebook user, please like our page.
Thanks!

With the calendar flipping to February in a few days we are officially entering the home stretch.
Some of the most fun matches of the season will be wrestled in the next few weeks. It’s time to
put it all together and finish strong. As always – looking forward to it! Let’s Go Crimson!
As always let me know if anybody has any questions.
