Crimson Wrestlers, Managers, and Families-
Week Seven/Eight Recap:
That was an eventful two weeks. Since the last update we took back our Droggy Cup from
Osseo while sweeping the Conference Tri, our young guys went 4-1 on their way to a 2 nd place
finish at the Eastview Tournament, we went 3-0 in a home quad that put us in the drivers seat for
a top three seed at Team Sections, and finished the two-week stretch with an excellent 7-2 record
in the Varsity Duals.
While most of our recent events have been Team centered, Saturday’s JV and girls individual
tournaments brought home two 1 st place medals for the Crimson. Freshman Joseph Natysin and
Sophomore Kathrine Melton each won their brackets. Runner ups included Russo Capel,
Jonathan Hjelmstad, Vincent Iacono, Ty Newton, Yegor Marchenko, and Brooklyn True.
While it’s exciting to see our athletes competing as well as they are, the most exciting matches
are yet to come. In less than two weeks we start what I consider to be our seasons post-season
with 9 th grade individual sections. The hope/expectation is we’ll have two phenomenal weeks of
practice and competition and enter the post season on fire.
Here’s the information you’ll want to know for the upcoming TWO weeks worth of the wrestling
season:
Week 9 Practice/Meet Schedule:
Monday, 1.15 – No School – Practice at 9a.
Tuesday, 1.16 – A.M.: Morning practice at 5:45a for Varsity guys and others who bring a
partner.
Tuesday, 1.16 P.M.: Weight Room at 2:10p; Wrestling at 3:10p.
Wednesday, 1.17 - Wrestling room at 3:10p.
Thursday, 1.18 – At Hopkins with St. Michael and Lakeville North. The bus leaves at 3:15p
with wrestling beginning at 5p. Wrestling order still to be communicated.
Friday, 1.19 – At Centennial with Armstrong. The bus leaves at 3:15p with wrestling beginning
at 5p. Once again, the schedule for the night has not yet been communicated to me. We will get
one extra pound plus the two-pound growth allowance for this match.
Saturday, 1.20 – Varsity, JV, and girls individual tournament at Park Center. The bus leaves at
6:45a. Wrestling is set to start at 9:30a. NOTE: Some wrestlers will not compete in this
tournament due to match count concerns. I need to verify match count numbers for some
wrestlers prior to official releasing a list of those not competing. If there are enough wrestlers
not competing there may be a practice specifically for those athletes. To be determined.

Week 10 Practice/Meet Schedule:
Monday, 1.22 – Weight Room at 2:10p; Wrestling room at 3:10p. 9 th grade sections wrestle-offs.
Tuesday, 1.23 – A.M.: Morning practice at 5:45a for Varsity guys and others who bring a
partner.
Tuesday, 1.23 P.M.: Yoga at 2:05p; Wrestling at 3:10p. 9 th grade sections wrestle-offs as
needed.
Wednesday, 1.24 – Weight Room at 2:10p; Wrestling room at 3:10p.
Thursday, 1.25 – Weight Room at 2:10p; Wrestling room at 3:10p.
Friday, 1.26 – Wrestling Room at 3:10p
Saturday, 1.27 – Varsity, JV, and girls at Orono for an individual tournament and 9 th grade
individual sections at St. Francis. The bus is scheduled to leave at 7a for both tournaments. I
expect wrestling to start around 9:30a at both tournaments.
Wrestlers of the Week:
Week 4: Chase T., Alex F.
Week 5: Amir B., Russo C.
Week 6: Ethan H., Jonathan M.
Week 7: Alex T., Joseph N.
Mat Boss Video Access:
Many wrestlers are now watching their matches on Mat Boss each week – which is awesome!
This is a great opportunity for kids to learn from their matches and improve at a much faster rate
than would otherwise be possible. Watching back matches can be a great learning tool and is
highly encouraged. Please let me know if you/your wrestler has not been able to get in to Mat
Boss and would like to do so or if you have any other questions. Thanks.
Sports Engine, Facebook Page and Future Communication:
Lastly please download the Sports Engine App and sign up to receive future communications.
Parents and wrestlers can each sign up to receive future communications and schedule changes
through the Sports Engine app by going to Crimson-Wrestling.com. If you have any challenges
with this, please text me your email address at 763-913-0601 and I’ll make sure you are added to
the app portion. Please let me know if you have any questions with this as we will use this app
for communications throughout the season.
Also, we often post fun pictures or related articles on the Maple Grove High School Wrestling
Page on Facebook (along with this article). If you are a Facebook user, please like our page.
Thanks!

Should be a fun and informative week that will help as we continue to build for the exciting
weeks ahead. So many possibilities and how we grow these next couple weeks will greatly
impact how we cap the season. Let’s Go Crimson!
As always let me know if anybody has any questions.
