Crimson Wrestlers and Families, 

Now that we are a couple weeks into the school year, wrestling is just around the corner.  I wanted to get a few things on everyone’s radar. 

1. Grynd Preseason Opportunity:  I know at least one wrestler is starting practices this week in St. Michael.  If you/your wrestler would like to get an early jump on the season I would recommend this local option.  Registration includes one, two, or three times a week options throughout the pre-season.  More information at:  https://www.gryndwrestling.com/
2. Pre-Season Youth Clinic:  Practices are 6p – 7p on Oct. 3rd, 4th, 10th, 12th, 17th, 24th, and 26th.  The end of program Tournament will be on Thursday, Oct. 26th and we’ll need wrestlers to help ref, score, time, etc.  It would be great to have high school wrestlers coaching for any/all practices if possible – and for those looking for volunteer hours this is a great opportunity as well.  If you have youth friends or neighbors who might be interested in giving wrestling a shot please encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity as well.
3. For His Glory Wrestling Clinic:  Maple Grove Senior High will be the host site of a one-day clinic on Saturday, Oct. 28th.  It's the best deal you can find in youth sports as for $25 each participant will get a lunch, a shirt, and coaching from some top tier wrestlers and clinicians.  More information and to register you can go to https://www.forhisglorywrestling.com/

4. Winter Season Sports Meetings:  Monday, October 16th (time TBD).  I believe this meeting will start in the cafeteria with Ricardo’s presentation and we will have a wrestling specific meeting at a later date. 

5. Pre-season Wrestling Tournament at Anoka High School:  Sunday, Oct. 22nd.  It's a great opportunity to see where you are at and determine what areas you'd like to focus on going into the season.  Find more information at https://usawrestlingevents.com/event/2400004102

6. Pre-season Wrestling Practices at Maple Grove Senior High:  We will host six pre-season practices from 6p – 7:30p on the following dates:  Oct. 23rd, 25th, and 30th, as well as Nov. 1st, 6th, 9th (Note: All practices are on Monday's and Wednesday's except this one which is a Thursday).  Gopher Wrestler Drew Roberts has run our pre-season folkstyle and post season freestyle the past couple of years.  He does a great job and will once again run the first four sessions.  We will bring in another high level coach for the last two sessions as well.  Registration information should be available by the end of the week at mgwrestlingclub.com. 
7. Team Poster Picture:  Wrestlers who lettered or won 10 or more matches at any level last season will be invited to attend the team poster picture.  Ideas for the poster picture are welcome and the date/time of the picture is still a work in progress.  More details to come.  
8. Free Intro to Wrestling clinics for first year wrestlers (invite friends and classmates to come check it out):  Monday, November 6th and Monday, November 13th from 3p – 4p in the wrestling room.
