Crimson Wrestlers, Managers, and Families-
Week Five/Six Recap:
Hope everyone had a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Years with family/friends and enough good food to enjoy the Holiday’s (while also making weight at the next weigh-
ins).

Last week I wrote “We are planning to work hard and looking forward to seeing the results show up on the mat on the 29 th .”
Between Redwood and Eau Claire we had 11 practices – including 4 days where we offered two practices (and one two-a-day yet to go). Many wrestlers attended all (or almost all) of those practices and we could see wrestlers start to find a new level in their wrestling.
During this time, we had our hardest practices of the season – and it was exciting to see many athletes put forth an exceptional effort despite being challenged at a higher level. On Thursday it was evident the time was well spent - every one of these athletes competed as well as they have all season. On the Varsity side we had two wrestlers go undefeated (Connor Peterson and Ben Schultz), while four others went either 4-1 or 3-1 (Ethan Hong,
Max Johnson, Noah Fox, and Chase Thein). There were five others who finished .500 or better in Alex Fox (2-1), Damian Seubert (1-1), Rufus Bartee (3-2), Thomas Schlangen (2-2), and Jayden Waste (2-2). Alex Fox, Noah Fox, Nick Wentland, and Rylan Bahl all picked
up their first Varsity wins of the season.
As a team we went 3-2 on the day despite forfeiting three weights in many of the duals. It’s always fun to wrestle well up and down the line-up – and that’s exactly what happened in Eau Claire.
On the JV side while we had one champ (Franz Lutz), but also had four wrestlers - Reese Redlinger (who earned his first career victory!), Eddie Hahn, Yegor Marchenko, and Darius Johnson finish second. By all accounts we wrestled well. Many of our JV guys are newer or completely new to the sport and watching this group practice now vs. just a few weeks ago – the improvement is night and day. The results of their efforts are starting to show and
a number of these guys picked up their first wins of the season. I didn’t get to see much of the JV but the coaches reported being impressed by the very apparent improvement that could be seen throughout. This is a hard-working and committed group and their progress has been a lot of fun to follow as they gain additional experience. Looking forward to seeing what these guys can do as we approach 9 th grade sections and JV Conference Tournaments later this month and early next month. In short - it’s a lot of fun when a plan comes together and that’s what happened the last
couple weeks. We are improving at an impressive rate and heading into the second half of our season with exciting momentum.

Here are the details you'll need for the TWO weeks ahead.

Mat Boss Video Access:
Many wrestlers are now watching their matches on Mat Boss each week – which is awesome! This is a great opportunity for kids to learn from their matches and improve at a much faster rate than would otherwise be possible. Watching back matches can be a great learning tool and is highly encouraged. Please let me know if you/your wrestler has not been able to get in to Mat Boss and would like to do so or if you have any other questions.
Thanks.
Sports Engine, Facebook Page and Future Communication:
Lastly please download the Sports Engine App and sign up to receive future
communications. Parents and wrestlers can each sign up to receive future communications
and schedule changes through the Sports Engine app by going to Crimson-Wrestling.com.
If you have any challenges with this, please text me your email address at 763-913-0601
and I’ll make sure you are added to the app portion. Please let me know if you have any
questions with this as we will use this app for communications throughout the season.
Also, we often post fun pictures or related articles on the Maple Grove High School
Wrestling Page on Facebook (along with this article). If you are a Facebook user, please
like our page. Thanks!

Looking forward to getting back on the mats and getting better this week – as well as
continuing to test ourselves vs. a couple of the better teams in our Conference.
As always let me know if anybody has any questions.
