Crimson Wrestlers, Managers, and Families-
Week Seven/Eight Recap:
The last two weeks we’ve wrestled 9 duals – including 4 conference duals. We finished 5-4 overall to get back to .500 on the season. More importantly, we have seen considerable growth
throughout both our Varsity and JV – both as teammates and as wrestlers.
This sport has a way of rewarding those who deserve it and the success we are seeing can be attributed to the efforts that are taking place in the practice room daily. We have a group of
athletes who consistently show up and give their all. This group is improving at a remarkable rate. In the last two weeks we’ve seen wrestlers such as Alex Fox, Jayden Waste, Noah Fox, Ayden Gunville, and Chase Thein establish themselves as guys who can be counted on to produce team points. Our wrestlers who would be considered our most accomplished athletes going into the season are regularly dominating opponents and, in many cases and are making a statement as some of the best wrestlers in the state at their weights. Wrestlers who have had the most success include Max Johnson and Connor Peterson who both finished the two week stretch 8-1. Rufus Bartee finished 7-2. Ben Schultz finished 6-2 and Thomas Schlangen finished 6-3.
Many JV wrestlers are also doing all the right things – and they too are getting better every time they step on the mat.  At Saturday’s Mounds View Tournament, we had four Champions (Damian Seubert, Caleb Jatko, Jaeden Hubbard, and Grady Mandle) along with a number of wrestlers who took second.
Good things are happening! So many of our wrestlers have so much to be proud of. Those who have committed to being their best are improving daily. This week will be another great
opportunity for all wrestlers in attendance to find yet another level. With no shortage of strong competition coming our way, this week should be another great opportunity to both see where
we’re at and apply what we learn. I’m looking forward to additional opportunities to grow into the best individuals and team we can be.

Here are the details you'll need for the week ahead.
Week 9 Practice/Meet Schedule:
Monday, 1.16 (No School) – Practice at 3p: We will be doing wrestle offs for the East Ridge tournament on 1.21 as well as an outdoor run to start practice. Wrestlers should bring clothes to
run outside in – including a hat and gloves/mittens. We will wrestle following the run so clothes to wrestle in are also needed.
Tuesday, 1.17 – Practice: Weight Room at 2:10p; Wrestling room at 3:10p.
Wednesday, 1.18 – Practice: Wrestling room at 3p.
Thursday, 1.19 – At St. Michael with Hopkins (Note: We may have some of our Junior High Wrestlers practice at Maple Grove instead of compete at STMA this night – more information will be communicated at practice). The schedule for the night is as follows:

3:15p – Bus Leaves.
4p - Weigh-ins.
5p – Hopkins vs. St. Michael
6:15p – Hopkins vs. Maple Grove
7:30p – Maple Grove vs. St. Michael
Friday, 1.20 – Practice: Wrestling room at 3p.
Saturday, 1.21 – East Ridge Tournament – All wrestlers at East Ridge for an individual Tournament. The bus is scheduled to leave at 6:15a with a 7a weigh-in time and wrestling to begin as close to 9a as possible.
Look Ahead: Saturday, 1.27 is the 9 th Individual Sections Qualifier. We are allowed one wrestler in each weight class and will be doing wrestle offs for starting spots starting Monday,
1.23. Those not wrestling at 9 th grade sections will be competing at South St. Paul in an individual Varsity and JV Tournament.

Mat Boss Video Access:
Many wrestlers are now watching their matches on Mat Boss each week – which is awesome! This is a great opportunity for kids to learn from their matches and improve at a much faster rate than would otherwise be possible. Watching back matches can be a great learning tool and is highly encouraged. Please let me know if you/your wrestler has not been able to get in to Mat Boss and would like to do so or if you have any other questions.

Sports Engine, Facebook Page and Future Communication:
Lastly please download the Sports Engine App and sign up to receive future communications. Parents and wrestlers can each sign up to receive future communications and schedule changes through the Sports Engine app by going to Crimson-Wrestling.com.
If you have any challenges with this, please text me your email address at 763-913-0601 and I’ll make sure you are added to the app portion. Please let me know if you have any questions with this as we will use this app for communications throughout the season.
Also, we often post fun pictures or related articles on the Maple Grove High School Wrestling Page on Facebook (along with this article). If you are a Facebook user, please like our page. Thanks!

Should be some fun matches this week! Looking forward to utilizing all four practice to get better, and expecting another exciting week of intense matches come Thursday and Saturday.
As always let me know if anybody has any questions.
