Crimson Wrestlers, Managers, and Families-
That’s a wrap.  What a way to cap the 2021-2022 Crimson Wrestling Season!!  Connor and Max both made us all proud by the way they competed this weekend.

Connor was one of the youngest wrestlers in the tournament.  Despite this, he had an eventual finalist on the ropes in and was able to gain the experience of wrestling on the big stage twice.  He will be back – and this experience will pay future dividends.

Max entered the tournament coming off a section championship after being the third seed.  At state he was the sixth seed and went 4-1 in the tournament to cap the season with a third-place finish!  Max put it all together and truly peaked at the right time.  He’s such a competitor – his mental and physical toughness was on full display.  Congrats Max on an amazing finish!

Moving forward it’s hard to imagine we don’t have practice on Monday.  However, I am asking all our wrestlers to attend our end of season meeting this Tuesday.  Parent’s are invited as well.  Wrestlers, please make this meeting a priority.

Here are the details:

End Of Season Meeting and Equipment Turn In:

Tuesday, 3.8 – We will turn in equipment, talk about the offseason, discuss captains for next season, and vote for season award winners.  All wrestlers are required to attend and parents are invited to attend – especially if they would like to hear about the offseason opportunities.  Equipment turn in will start at 2:30p with the end of season meeting set to begin around 3:20p in the wrestling room.

Banquet:

The end of season banquet is Sunday, March 20th.  All wrestlers, managers, coaches, family members and Crimson Wrestling Supporters are invited to attend.  Please RSVP ASAP.  If you did not receive the email on how to RSVP but you/your student would like to attend please let me know and I’ll pass along the information or click here to register. Hope you can all make it!

Upcoming Opportunities for our Younger Wrestlers:

Wrestlers who were born in 2006 and after are eligible to compete at the State Tournament in Rochester.  Wrestlers born in 2008 or 2009 need to qualify but wrestlers born in 2006 and 2007 can just register and attend.  Details can be found here:  https://theguillotine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/MNUSA-Wrestling-Kids-State-Individual-Folkstyle-Tournament-2022.pdf

Luther Team Camp:  In years past we have attended the Luther (Iowa) Team Camp as a Team and it’s always been a great experience that our guys look forward to during the summer.  This summer’s camp is July 10th – 13th.  Just wanted to give everyone a heads up so we can hopefully save the date.  Please let me know when possible if you/your wrestler is interested in attending.

The Week Ahead:

The week ahead is the first week of the ‘offseason.’  While many wrestlers may be ready for some time off the mat, I do want to suggest all wrestlers start making a plan for what they want to do with the offseason.  The time to create good habits and set the tone for the offseason is now.  It would be a great start if we can kick-off the offseason by filling up the weight room – which is open daily until 4p.

Offseason quote to remember:

‘It’s not hard to be the best, you just have to outwork the best.’  - Dan Gable

As always let me know if anybody has any questions.
